About the menu

Fonda San Juan desde 1980, nestled in the heart of Ciudad de México’s Escandón neighborhood, offers an authentic taste of classic Mexican home-style meals at unbeatable prices. This fonda specializes in traditional comida corrida, serving generous portions in a convenient three-course format: a comforting soup or cream, a side of rice or spaghetti, and a well-seasoned main dish like chile relleno, entomatado de res, or longaniza with potatoes.

The menu shines with beloved staples such as chilaquiles rojos—crafted with care rather than soggy chips—and chicharrón in salsa verde that delivers bright, satisfying flavors reminiscent of a family kitchen. For around 60 pesos, including refreshing aguas frescas, diners enjoy a filling, flavorful experience that feels both nostalgic and genuine.

The atmosphere encourages sharing, reflecting the warmth and community spirit of a true Mexican fonda. While payment is cash only and no invoices are issued, the quality, taste, and attentive service make every meal here a memorable delight worth returning to.

Desayuné el chicharrón en salsa verde y es una maravilla. Los bolillos y la atención de lujo. No aceptan tarjetas. Los precios son muy razonables y el menú clásico de México. Los chilaquiles no son totopos mojados, aquí son chilaquiles bien hechos y rojos.
